Globalization is the process where products are spread in terms of information

Globalization is the process where products are spread in terms of information, technology, and jobs over national borders and cultures. Also, in terms of economics, it goes ahead to narrate or describes an interdependence of nations all over the world stimulate through free trade. (KOPP, 2019).
Globalization has various theories that can give us more understanding of what globalization really is. One of the theories of globalization is the theory of political Realism.

Political Realism is a theory of political ideology that strives to explain, replica, and prescribe political relations. It has its presumption that power is the primary end of political action. Thus, whether in the domestic or international sector.
In the domestic sector, the theory contends that politicians do well to strive to maximize their power, while in the international arena, nation-states are seen as the primary agents that maximize their power. So, the theory simply means to say that there are no general principles that all states or nations will guide their actions so this basically talking about the domestic sector but not the international arena. Any problem that will arise in the domestic sector, that nation ought to take full responsibility for their action and find ways to resolve that problem. They give no attention to a higher authority. Thus, international political power. (Kolb, 2018).

I really agree with this theory because it has no international interference. Most often, international powers inference the progress of a nation.
The second theory of Globalization is the Theory of Constructivism.
The theory of Constructivism is the theory that basically focused on observation and scientific study and thus about how people learn. This means that Constructivism theory looks at how people come out with their own understanding and knowledge of the world and this done through experiencing things and consider or reflect on those experiences. When coming across something new in our life, we have to reconcile it with our old ideas and experience by changing what we believe, or we either get rid of the new information as irrelevant. For better understanding, constructivism Theory has the approach or uses the approach to examine how people passionately construct or come out with their own knowledge and that reality is resolved or determined by the experience of the learner. (McLeod, 2019).

Constructivism has a very good impact on the life of people I agree with its theory. It has in promoting social communication skills by creating an environment that highlights fraternizing and exchanging ideas. And this environment can be in the classroom where we as a student can learn how to articulate ideas in a clear manner to enable us to get together on any task that will be given to us by our instructor.

World System Theory Versus World Polity Theory

World System Theory Versus World Polity Theory
Unit 1

Globalization is something I really never thought about. I was too wrapped up in my own life to think about where parts are made. Who was making them, who was getting the benefits of the money made? Where people getting exploded from one country for the wealth of others in a different country. I’m ashamed to say this is all new to me. So, to further my look into globalization I will be examining World System Theory and World Polity Theory.

First, let’s consider World System Theory in our reading of the Globalization website on World System Theory by Frank Lechner. It brought out that this system is based on a hierarchy. First, there is the core, the core is strong states, they don’t depend on anyone. They pay lower prices for goods and exploit cheap labor. They believe in capitalist and exploiting the poor. The next is semiperipheral areas, they are a little dependent on the core, they are considered in between the core and the peripheral ones. They help by preventing opposition. Then we have the peripheral. These are with the lowest skills, they lack strength, and they are cheap labor and will not be ever helped out of poverty. Peripherals are very dependent on the core. They all believe in the system, to them the system is how they survive. The ones with manpower rule over the others.

As I continued my reading of the Globalization web site on World Polity Theory by Frank Lechner, I learned about World Polity Theory. No one state or nation or actor, group, or organization was in control. Because of this it opened the door to a competitive spirit and help with innovation and development. This in turn created more jobs giving people a chance to make it out of poverty. I also learned they were the most into homogenization, wanting things uniformed for all. They worked together to incite change in policy.

World system Theory and World Polity Theory are very different. In World System Theory only the powerful really benefit. Many are left in poverty with no end in sight. In past generations, we have seen that capitalist regimes don’t work. World Polity Theory is better than that and would be my choice if I had to pick one. If I understood this correctly no one was dependent on anyone else. They all had a chance to develop and innovate.

Since this was my first time reading about this, I’m sure I missed some points. But I did learn I’m not in agreement with a World system. I feel they take advantage of the weak and impoverished. I’m interested in learning more about globalization and how it affects many nations poor and rich.

Discuss the role of the polis in Archaic and Classical-era Greece

Hi, I'm Cita from the south Asian island, Sri Lanka. I work as a freelancer in localization and marketing. I work from home and spend most of my free time blogging or planting vegetables in the garden. I decided to enroll in UoPeople to learn something new and improve my qualifications.

The role of the polis in Archaic and Classical-era Greece

Before the archaic age, the small communities scattered across the land, and they lived in self-sufficient farms. During the transition time to the archaic age, these small communities came together as a more significant community creating the setting for the rise of a Greek polis. A polis means a city-state, a central urban area which was a small governing body. According to Hansen and Nielsen, there were around 1500 archaic and classical Greek poleis. (Hansen et al, 2004). The largest polis among that was the polis of Athens, the birthplace of democracy, and also Sparta, Corinth, Thebes, and Delphi, which are some other significant poleis in Archaic and Classical-era Greece.

Each polis was economically and politically independent from other poleis and had their own culture, economic system, a governing system as well as different deities they worship. Nevertheless, greek poleis came together for the Olympic games.

Small groups of influential individuals known as Oligarchs or a ruler is known as a tyrant, ran the governance of some poleis. In contrast, other poleis allowed citizens to vote on and participate in making state decisions in a democratic governing system. Significantly literacy resurfaced during the archaic era, which was lost during the dark ages. They found a new alphabet and started writing in pottery and stones.

As the number of citizens increases, each polis expanded their territories by finding new lands and colonizing them. Some of the poleis, like Sparta, focused on their military skills and power. They even provided military power for others. Athens, on the other hand, explored their artistic and architectural abilities influencing most modern western architectural and artistic endeavors such as drama and theater. "At the beginning of the Archaic age, statues imitated the Egyptian, appearing rigid and immobile, but by the end of the period and the beginning of the Classical Age, statues looked human and almost lifelike." (Gill,2019)

Each polis had their agora, a market place but proper trading practices were not generally accepted. However, by the end of the archaic era, coin use started following the issues of the barter system.

The poleis system was a crucial point in Greek civilization and its influence on the modern world.
