After blockade form India there is high shortage LPG gas
cylinder which is used for cooking food in Nepal. No gas cylinder is available
for cooking. There is a high demand for gas cylinders and only a limited few gases are
available. The idea is to use alternative energy for cooking food. There is
little alternative way that can be used in Nepal for example 'Govar Gas',
Bio director, Solar energy, etc. Now a day many people are buying this kind of
alternative way cooking solution Department of Environment and Alternative
Source officer Mr. Ram Prashad Dhital said from alternative energy uses 1/3 of
LPG gas use can be reduced in a country. He said the previous year 8, 3000,000 gas
cylinders were imported in a country worth NRs. 25 billion Rupees and if we use
alternative energy we can reduce about 560,000 LPG gas cylinders in a year. As
per him, at the time of gas shortage, there is a high demand for Rice Husk Stove. Husk
stove costs around NRs. 11,000 Rupees and it’s similar to an LPG gas cylinder. Use
of this can reduce 30% of gas demand in public, he added.
He said, if
government helps us can install 200,000 husk stove in public effectively. Husk
stove is very useful for city areas like Kathmandu. Before 12 pieces of stove
hard to sale but after blockade demand is very high that we are having
difficulties to handle and supply. This kind of husk stove is made in Thailand
and finishing in India and later imported to Nepal. This kind of stove can use
any time for cooking. Another popular LPG alternative is a Solar stove. The solar stove can be install in the roof area and very easy to use. It takes a long time to compare to other but this is very economic and money-saving. For Nepal, solar
stoves can be easily imported from China. If the government ready to help solar panels
can be installed in the necessary areas.
