Shipping company caring third country cargo shipments to
Kolkata and Nepal have given information that they will not carry cargo
shipment to Nepal. World 3rd biggest cargo company CMA CGA informed Nepal
they cannot continue to bring cargo shipment from another country. Shipment Company
has written an official letter writing because of Nepal's blockade situation and the political unwanted environment they stopped all shipment. From blockade, their
many cargo containers are stuck and unable to return. Kolkata Halide is only one
seaport for Nepal to bring 3rd country cargo shipment. In Kolkata Halide
big water ship which is coming from Europe, America and even China have to go
from Singapore or Columbia and from there big ship's cargo shipped to small
cargo ship then only come to Kolkata seaport.
Because of the ongoing blockade in Nepal, there is a lot of cargo
container stuck in Kolkata seaport. There is no space for the container and have
to move the unwanted containers in paid parking space which is very costly. As per
the company total cost is around NRs. 2 billion rupees. For the 21 days, no fee
is charged but now shipment of the container takes more than 100 days. After 21
days fee per container has to pay $112 dollar, around 12,000 Nepalese Rupee. The company is facing new problems because the due amount is very high. As per the
report around 2000 vehicles containing containers are stuck in border areas worth
around NRs. 100 billion which includes medicine, fuel, and other very important
goods. After the blockade mainly the oil and fuel sector affected. Besides the normal
situation, 75% of oil and fuel are low in import. From this, about 2200 factories are
already shut down and many are the situation of the shutdown.
